Vespa World Day 2021

On 5th November 2021, Vespa Club Bangladesh held their annual club meet. Known as the World Vespa Day among the Vespa-holics worldwide, this is the third official club meet hosted by the Vespa community of Bangladesh.

Powered by Runner Automobiles Ltd. along with Turbine as one of the main sponsors, this meet was one of the largest Vespa meets to be ever hosted in Bangladesh.

The meeting point was in front of Bashundhara International Convention Center at 300ft, Dhaka where all the Vespa owners gathered initially. The plan was to gather at BICC and to do nearly a 16km rally towards the official meeting spot which was at Zinda Park in Narayanganj starting from 10:00am. A handful of nearly 50-60 different Vespas showed up to the original meeting spot from where the for the rally towards Zinda Park while another 70-80 showed up at the event spot.

The cohort of Vespa Club Bangladesh consists of Vespa users of several different generations. Vespa users starting from 18 year old all the way to 85 year old riders could be seen during the meet. Besides, not all Vespas were bought from Runner Automobiles Ltd. or even the gray market. Infact, many Vespas brought to the meet were several decades old. Some Vespas are as old as over 65 years old which were tastefully brought back to their previous glory by the Vespa enthusiasts.

The meet was a day-long family event where Vespa owners and enthusiasts gathered to talk and look at each other’s tastefully built Vespas from various generations. Ending the rally successfully and reaching Zinda Park, it was time for the official event launching speech hosted by the admins of Vespa Club Bangladesh namely Rupok Rahman, Wahidul Haque and Sujan Vw only to name a few, followed by an official photoshoot session afterwards.

Runner Automobiles Ltd. who were one of the main sponsors of the event had brought a mobile service booth to the event to provide free service to all the officially purchased Vespas which were present during the event.

Since the event was hosted on a Friday, there was a break for Jummah prayer after which the club members had lunch together. The afternoon consisted of the crest giving ceremony where the sponsors as well as the special guests received gifts and crests. The day-long event ended with evening snacks, announcement of the raffle draw winners and a closing ceremony speech.

It’s surely a delightful sight to see so many Vespa enthusiasts with their Vespas together all in one place, courtesy of Vespa Owners Club Bangladesh and their whole team of organizers. It’s only a matter of time before the two wheeler community of Bangladesh will be filled with higher displacement bikes with surreal top speeds and modern features. Yet, no other two wheeler will probably be even comparable to these gentleman’s rides, some of which are even older than the country they are being ridden on.
