BRTA to continue restrictions on ride-sharing services

Recently, BRTA has only permitted 255 four-wheelers with special enlistment certificates for providing ride-sharing services, with two-wheelers still being suspended until further notice. The Bangladesh Ride Sharing Association (BaRSA) has expressed disappointment with the decision. With most offices reopened after the government’s decision to liftoff the general holiday towards the end of last month, many who were dependent on ride-sharing services, especially bikes, have also expressed their disappointment. This decision to suspend two-wheelers were based on the grounds of health safety.Many riders have let Turbine know about their concerns regarding the increased taxes according to the new budget. An increased tax per year along with a 5% VAT means a bigger burden on them to make ends meet, which might also reflect on an increased fare, thus putting pressure on the customers.
