2020 Ford Mustangs recalled for brake pedal defect

The defect may cause fracturing of the brake-pedal bracket, possibly causing the bracket to snap. It originates from a change in material for the brake-pedal bracket, wherein Ford switched from using nylon to polypropylene with “insufficient design margins,” according NHTSA documents sent by the automaker. This only concerns Mustangs with an automatic transmissions as their manual counterparts did not go through the material switch. The bracket in question was introduced into production on March 4, 2019 and taken out of production on Aug. 13, 2020, leaving cars built during that timespan to be affected.Although Ford has reported no crashes or injuries due to the defect, it is a potential risk, and according to the recall notice, the bracket could snap while hard-braking resulting in brake failure.
