W124 Mercedes-Benz 500E: an industrial stepping stone

From 1975 up till 1999, Italian designer Bruno Sacco was responsible for industry-wide revolutionary work at Mercedes, and the W124 and W201 siblings were among a few of his significant works at Daimler. Incorporating elements of efficiency and safety into the design language, Bruno pushed the timeless W124 design as a benchmark for years to come. Part of the credit goes to the fact that he was in fact a part of the Mercedes safety department. A glance at the W124 now and perhaps you won’t notice how much of a stepping stone this was, but that may be because this was the very canvas every other car used for their design.
